What kind of cake do you make for a 37th Birthday Party????
A Mustache Cake, of course.
It was so so easy and you don't need a mustache cake pan just a regular old round cake pan. I just used a simple white cake recipe, and made two 8" round cakes. I stacked one cake on top of the other with a layer of SUPER FRUIT jam from Trader Joe's. Then I followed Spooniest's directions on cutting the cakes, it's basically a Ying and Yang shape.
Super easy, super cute! Two of my favorite things. Three of my favorite things if you include cake!
Be back tomorrow with some Bookcase updates!!!
Happy Birthday, Lee!

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Lee! Also, such a fun cake. So excited to see bookshelf progress, too. :)
ReplyDeleteHA! This makes me smile - I LOVE this!
ReplyDeleteSo creative... love it!
ReplyDeleteI think I saw a Martha Stewart episode, where she put strips of parchment paper a little bit under a cake (layering all around), before she frosted it. Then, any icing near the bottom would end up on the parchment paper, and not on your lovely serving stand/tray. Then, just slid the strips out, and no mess! ^_^
ReplyDeleteI agree totally with Gabby. I use wax paper when icing a cake, but parchment would work well also.
ReplyDeleteOne tip I learned years ago is that if you are going to cut a cake and then frost it...FREEZE it after you cut it. Then frost it while it is frozen and you won't get all the crumbs coming off into your frosting. Just leave it on your counter to thaw completely after you finish frosting.
ReplyDeleteOne of my friends is obsessed by mustaches ... yes in a creepy kind of way! She would love this cake, what a classic :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lee..........you deserve cake after all those cabinets on the library wall...........eat cake and enjoy. From Australia...Kathy A
