I wouldn't really say that we have any specific taste in artwork, we just kind of like what we like. No reason, I don't even think I could explain it if I tried. Sometimes we just see something and love it, which is also why a neutral scheme in the house works really well for us.
Now, here's where I'm going with all of this, we found a new piece of art for our front entrance. We saw it . . . loved it . . . had to have it. I think it kind of reminded me of Lee and myself, only a little taller, and a little slimmer ;).
We found it at Homesense complete with wood frame around the canvas, but I've seen the Canvas on sale at Target, you can see it here.
We hung it in the front hall above the console. It's one of the first things that you see when you walk in the front door, and the last thing you see as you leave.
We're super happy with it, and it also means that we're making progress on the front entrance.
Still to come:
- We still need an Area Rug
- and I'm thinking it might be the perfect spot for a small fish tank (goldfish are great feng shui).
I hope you like it too! And Yes, I know the peace lily plant has kind of gotten out of control. Lee saw this picture and said he didn't realize how big that plant has grown.
Actually add that to the list:
- Move peace lily to new spot in house and pick out a better proportioned plant for that spot!
We are the same way with our taste in art. We like what we like. Our taste in wine is very similar!
ReplyDeleteLove the new artwork! I was looking at that picture and thought the same thing, "gee she's got a green thumb, that plant has grown a ton!" LOL We moved to a more neutral scheme as well, especially in the family room. We are loving how much it and moving the furniture just a bit has really opened up and lightened the room. Hope to post pics soon!
ReplyDeleteOh such a beautiful piece! I love it!!

I have a hard time settling on art work. I tend to go with more architectural pieces, but I do love how it can bring a room together and tell a story. I'm still on the hunt.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I linked your master bedroom as one of my inspirations of board and batten ideas for my bedroom that is in need of a spruce up.
ReplyDeleteThe artwork is fantastic and (I think) I will be ordering one too! Thanks so much for sharing - and the entry is really coming together - it looks wonderful. Enjoy your day - Jalon
ReplyDeleteJust a quick note on the goldfish...we have several of them and you cannot keep them in a small fish tank (regardless of what they may tell you at the pet store). The rule of thumb is you need 20 gallons for the first goldfish and 10 gallons for each additional one. The reason for this is they are very "dirty" fish, meaning they eat a lot and expel a lot of waste. For that reason, you need to have excellent filtration and clean the tank & change the water very often. They are beautiful fish but it's a lot of work to take care of them properly!
ReplyDeleteFor this reason we always settled on a pretty Beta fish. Super easy!!
DeleteLooks great, Ashli! I wish I lived in your house...it is so lovely!!
ReplyDeleteI actually looove your plant there!! Before I finished reading, I commented to myself on how great that plant looks!! Also, I have kept fish my whole entire life, and I would not recommend goldfish, unless you are going to do a whole 5-10 gallon+ fish tank set up (pump, filters, etc). Beta fish would be better suited for a smaller container (like a large bowl or vase) and they do not require pumps and filters.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I think the plant looks perfect there! Your house looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so pretty, Ashli! And I agree with some of the others, your plant looks gorgeous there...unless it's starting to get in the way, then I would understand it needing to be moved. It sure is pretty though! Love the new artwork there, and the antelope (?) head?. Where did you find that?

Thanks Lisa,
DeleteThe Antelope head is from Homesense! His name is Arty ;)

Oh lovely art piece....and your plant looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteGet betta fish instead. One fish. In bowl. Lives forever (almost). Little care needed. Very colorful.
DeleteI love how it is abstract yet you know it's meant to be a couple...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry but I am going against the grain. I loved the mirror there with the lamp. I think the new art work (which I Love) is way too large (and high) to go there. If you do leave it there, I would certainly move the lamp to the other end and lower the art. o. I can't believe I am posting this as yours is my most favorite home and blog ever. I have always loved everything you have done - except this.
ReplyDeleteNo Worries Jane,
DeleteThanks so much for your opinion anyways. We can't all agree all of the time, but I definitely appriciate your thoughts!!! Hopefully you'll love one of our upcoming projects! :)
Lots of Love
