What incredibly romantic plans do we have for Valentine's Day?? you ask ;)
Lee's going to watch me blow my nose 500 times and then listen to me complain about how sick I am, then I'm going to go to bed early with a water bottle and a humidifier!! . . . all the while I'll be wearing my Flannel Monkey Bowling Pajama's . . . sooooo sexy!
But before I came down with what can only be compared to the bubonic plague. I managed to do some Valentine's Related projects.
First: This one is for all the flower snobs out there ;) A very cute little bouquet of Pink Carnations! I'll just say it . . . "I like BIG Fluffy carnations and I can not lie!"
I also strung a up a pink banner along the fireplace (I made it using this technique).
Second: I made a little rag wreath using scraps of fabric. It was soooo easy! Lee took some wire and made a circle for me (you could use a metal clothes hanger or anything similar), and I just single knotted strips of fabric around the wire until it was full!!!
Third: I sewed CUTE little hearts on to a simple grey sweater I had! The little pink hearts are cashmere . . . just say'in ;) I found a cute cashmere sweater at a second hand store and it was in bad shape, but they only wanted $2 for it and the back was in great shape. So I bought it and cut two little hearts out of it and sewed them on!!! I think it might be my new favorite sweater!
and last . . . a little Valentine's Day Gift for us.
I was at Jo Ann fabric and Lee was as he puts it "trying not to explode from boredom" anyway, he found this picture (I think more as a joke) anyways, I loved it so we bought it and it found it's place above my nightstand!
Happy Valentine's DAY!!! cough, cough, sniff, sniff!!
So sorry you are feeling crummy! Kate is just now getting over the same thing. If you Kleenex stock went up last week, thank my daughter!! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove all the little touches for Valentine's Day! You are always so creative. That sweater is darling.
Feel better soon! <3
I hope you feel better Ashli. Tell Lee you he should make you dinner in bed. :) I love your decorations for Valentine's Day. The hearts on your sweater is adorable. Happy Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteLove the valentines goodies. Don't feel bad.. I too have been fighting a cold for a few weeks now. Happy Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteGreat sweater!! Happy Vday!
ReplyDeleteFeel better and I have to say, for carnations, those are looking beautiful...all fluffy as they are! Janell
ReplyDeleteAwww sounds like you have the same sickness I do. Here's hoping we BOTH feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI looove carnations too...I think they get a bad rap! I hope you feel better soon, girl!!! Eat some chocolate, that should help.
ReplyDeleteOh you poor thing! Not fun to be sick anytime, but especially on Valentine's Day! I LOVE the heart elbow patches on your sweater. That is super cute! It would be my new fav too!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon!

Why do we have to be ashamed of our love for carnations? They're beautiful and they smell great. Just call them "dianthus," and people won't judge you. I love the elbow patches. What did you do to the edges to keep them from unravelling?
ReplyDeleteI love the sweater detail and your flower vase!!
ReplyDeleteNancy
Seriously ...the picture is perfect & lovely!
ReplyDeleteI am screaming with sweater envy here!
AND I love Carnations!...especially when they are grouped this way!
Hope you are feeling better soon!...aaaachooo!
Oh you poor thing ....... I just got over that horrible snively cold. I think you started something with that barn door and wreaths. I want to see a new wreath on that door for every season K? Now I also want you to sew some hearts onto a little cardigan of mine, would you do that for me? I'll give you candy .....
ReplyDeleteSo sorry! But glad I'm not the only one. I'm just jealous you have monkey p.j.'s. I'm in polka dots! I had to drag myself out of bed just to see what kind of great celebration everyone in blog land was having before I curl back up in the fetal position with my tissue. Feel better!
ReplyDeleteI love elbow patches but love them even more in the shape of hearts!! So flippin' cute!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day to You Ashli! Sending my love and recipe for your cold:
ReplyDelete1 squeezed lemon
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Mix into hot boiled water, add some magazines, your cute little poochie and the monkey pjs and relax! xxxx
Eileen,
ReplyDeleteA little bit of Fabric glue along the edges keeps the hearts from fraying at the edges!!!
Hope that helps
Ashli
I want to come to your house for Valentine's Day because you sooo know how to celebrate! Also, I'm lovin' your new print AND your heart-shaped elbow patches. Beyond cute!!

Although all of this is on a good day! There are definitely days when I don't roll myself out until 9 ;)
Lots of Love
