Our dining room is also a fairly bossy room. It almost demands that we have a round or square dining table, it would not fit a rectangle table. Because of our open concept, all of it's walls connect to other areas so there's no opportunity for an accent wall of paint or wallpaper. There are no windows to dress up with curtains. It has to be a show stopper but leaves us with NO opportunity to make it stand out!
So we had to work with what we've got and added our own show stopping touches . . . like the BARN DOOR! And our new dining room artwork!
I LOVE them and I don't think that I could have found better suiting images for our dining room!
Since I'm on bit of an URBAN BARN love fest I wanted to show you my latest find, these Beautiful Crystal Candle holders. Urban Barn had a recent midnight madness sale 25% off accessories and I grabbed this set of three which came to around $35. I wasn't going to grab them because I already had some super cheap candle holders from Ikea but Lee saw them, and said he liked them too and for Lee to say that he "likes" crystal candle holders is BIG sign from above that I'm meant to have them . . . Lee doesn't like anything to do with candles unless they are in the shape of skulls . . . or motorcycles but I've never seen a candle in the shape of a motorcycle! My sister was happy to receive the old Ikea ones . . . it's win win!
The bowls are from Homesense, I love an angled bowl, for some reason they seem really Asian too me, so we usually have noodles in them, but they work really well for pasta too!
The napkins are just made from some leftover fabric I had lying around!
The plates under the bowls are from Target, I found a pack of 4 for . . . just over $4!
I threw them in the cart so fast I almost broke'em!
So there's our new dining room!!! I'm tempted to say 'completed dining room' but I have a feeling that one day (in the far far future) I'll be changing the simple pendant out for some thing with a bit more sparkle! Definitely not a traditional chandelier but just something with a bit more WOW!!
But that's in the FAR FAR future!!
p.s. Thank you for all the barn door love yesterday. . . and husband LOVE. He is pretty darn amazing, I agree!!!
The new artwork is perfect for the space! And, what a steal of a price!! Love your new candlesticks. Will have to check out Urban Barn. Is it a Canadian company?
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing deal that you got on that art work! It is just perfect for that space! And the barn door really makes the space- looks pretty complete to me! :)
ReplyDeleteYour dining room looks just gorgeous!!I love your style!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the dining rooms looks fabulous! You don't need windows or an accent wall to make it fabulous, those pictures sure did the trick. I love the white poinsettias. Are they from one large poinsetita and then just cut down for bud vases?
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!! You are so good at combining things I would have never thought of! I would have thought the barn door would be too rugged for your style, but you combine it perfectly and it looks amazing! I wish I had your eye!! Love it all!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful and what perfect artwork for the walls!!! You have great taste!!
ReplyDeleteYou may have mentioned this before, but where is the table from? I love it and am in need of a new table for our kitchen!

ReplyDeleteThat art work is fan-freakin'-tastic!! It all looks so great: candlesticks, dishes, napkins. But the art work and the Lee door really make it as show stopping as you said you wanted. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteLove the barn door! You dining area looks fab!
ReplyDeleteThe Table is from a local Liquidation store but I've also seen it on OVERSTOCK.com!
ReplyDeleteHope that helps a bit
Ashli
Tones- The poisettias are from one big plant I found for $6 and then I cut off flowers it was way cheaper then buying a bouquet!!!

I recently bought an antique round dining table, that extends to a 12 seater and I have been searching everywhere for a nice table runner to go across it. Love the cross over look. Unfortunately none have them have been long enough to go across the table. I might have to make some. Once again Ashlii, your room looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour room turned out great!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you leave your dishes staged on your table all the time or are they there just for these pictures?
Really, really pretty!
ReplyDeleteLouise
Love everything about that room!! You have such a great decorating sense!! And a handy hubby as well!!
ReplyDeleteThis room has come together beautifully and doesn't look like any other out there. Great job!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely room; well done! Lovin' the art on the wall, but I (personally) can't take my eyes off the barn door ;-) Great finds for the table and you've arranged it beautifully. I especially love the creamy poinsettias around your new candle sticks (I was going to go to the Urban Barn sale, but changed my mind at the last minute. Dumb me!!).

Some times we leave our dishes on the table, it a fool proof way to make sure Lee doesn't drop all his work stuff off on the table, most of the time it's empty! But we're having a couple friends over for dinner this weekend so we'll leave it set until then!
ReplyDeleteKeeping it beautifully set is a great way to make sure no one dumps junk on it though!! :)
Lots of Love
Ashli
