You've probably heard me talking about ripple effect decorating . . . in short it's one change leads to another. I think you know where I'm going with this.
With the barn door being done I thought that the dining room needed new artwork, our DIY artwork was lovely but more of a temporary fix . . . although it will definitely find it's way somewhere else in the house.
We're just deciding on what the best height for the new art is. I always find Dining Room art a weird thing to hang, because your sitting down when looking at it . . . but you'll also see it standing up.
Please excuse the poor picture quality this pic is from the craigslist listing!!
Love the prints! Can't wait to see the room come together. I agree...the height of art in a dining space can be tricky.
ReplyDeleteThese are so unique, perfect for the dining room!! YaY!
ReplyDeleteStill many surprises coming up in our amazing 12 Days of Holiday Giveaways!! The French Basketeer has a very special offering right now and there are more gifts open to enter!

My super stylin' BFF has those! And they look amazing!!! Lucky you! When I saw the pic I was hoping you were listing them because I would have bought them off you! haha! Enjoy your weekend Ashli!
ReplyDeleteThe rule of thunb is to always hang your art on 57" center. "On center" means that the middle of the picture is at 57". Obviously, the hook will be higher. Interestingly the 57" standard represents the average eye height and is used as the standard in many galleries and museums.
ReplyDeleteIf you stick to this standard, you create a harmony among all the pictures in your home as they will always hang in relationship to one another from their centers and not their sides.
This also solves the problem that most people have of hanging their art work too high.
Please tell me you didn't find those on Craigslist! I am never that lucky! They will look amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou are crazy lucky to find those on CraigsList!! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteOh it looks like it has been there for the whole life of the home, which is FANTASTIC! I adore so very much how it turned out. You have quite the handy hubs, you both did an amazing job on the design and install, it really adds so much character!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, I know you have been excited about a barn door for awhile now!
