    The Almost Finished Library

I say ALMOST because I still need to find and hang curtains, organize the secretary desk and then there's the whole throw pillow situation :) I haven't decided if I want to add more color or if I want to make it a neutral back drop for all the colorful books.
But Here's what we've got to far.

Here's what it looked like before:

You'll notice we painted the panels, the forest green wasn't really cutting it for me.
    Here's some of the details:
    • Our A-Z book ends with some of my favorite books. And Our Telescope! Disregard the pictures Eventually I'll be replacing the photos (frames are staying)
    • Our Christmas Gift from my sister. A set of original oil paintings, painted by My Sister. I, sadly, got the short end of the talent stick, my mom is also a very talented artist. I on the other hand once turned a paint by numbers canvas into something that resembled mud on paper.

    •  A slightly different angle :)

And Now the Secretary Desk!!! Just a Ikea one we use to have it in our Guest Bedroom in the OLD Manor. It fit perfectly into the corner of the Library. Paired with an old Windsor Chair it's the perfect little desk for bills, letters and general office-y things :) My next project will be organizing the Desk!

Here's what it looked like before:
So there's our almost finished Library, just some curtains, a couple of throw pillows and a desk organizing post to go. But a good start anyways :)
Bookcase tutorial tomorrow and some of our tips for organizing a book collection, then last, a favorite reads post and that should finish off "Library week" haha sure felt like a library week :)

It looks great! I love how the newly painted panels melt right into the bookcase and make it all look like it was custom-made to be together. Great job!

Looks wonderful and cozy. I wouldn't say you got the short end of the talent stick...look what you can do with a room - a whole house. You turn it into the most inviting, lovely home ever. That's TALENT!

Oooooh Fantastic! Should be in a magazine - truly.

The chairs - the chairs ended up being perfect for that space. Good eye! I think a subtle pop of color on the chairs would bring out the wonderful color of the books.

Your sister is wonderfully talented but you are too - just looking at the changes in your home prove that!

Love it. Love Max hanging out.

Just curious...what did the previous owners have there? Did they put up the grey (ugly) panels? ha!

LOVE your sister's paintings. Does she sell them?

Yeah! I'm so glad you all like it. I'm hoping to find some curtains soon! and get this room wrapped up!
The Monogrammed Mrs.- They are a combination or custom and store bought bookcases. We took Billy bookcases and made a custom top, we'll be sharing the tutorial tomorrow :)
Reenie- The people who built our house put that panel up for some, unknown to me, reason. We both thought it resembled a garage door too much for our taste haha.
The paintings my sister made, are a one of a kind set. She doesn't do prints, only original works. But she does sell them, she also does a lot of Commission work. I'll put a link up on the side bar sometime tonight :)
And thank you so much again for everyone's super kind words, makes me want to hurry up and get those drapes finished!!

Everything looks terrific, Ashli! The repainted trim/paneling around and under the windows looks great in white - a real improvement!! What kind of drapes are you thinking about? I'd vote for some kind of print :-)

      Beautiful space.

What I really love, however, is those paintings by your sister. They wouldn't normally even be what I consider 'my style,' but they are so breathtaking and lovely. Enjoy them!
