    Flowers on Friday: Wild Flowers

This weeks flowers on Friday is extra sweet. Just when I think Lee's not listening to me he does something so incredibly thoughtful! A couple weeks ago we passed a very unkempt field and I thought out loud to myself (or so I thought), that I didn't understand who decides what's a weed and what's a flower. Personally I think dandelion's are pretty! Now I'm not saying that I would choose to cultivate a yard full of them but I can't deny the bright yellow hue makes me smile.
So earlier this week Lee stopped by the field on his way home from work and picked me a beautiful bouquet of "Wildflowers".  Normally I wouldn't condone picking flowers from public spaces but technically they are weeds, so no harm, no foul.
Isn't he just so sweet it makes your teeth hurt! haha

The reason there is only a picture of them on the counter is because half way through putting them into a vase I realized the entire bunch was crawling with bugs, big bugs, small bugs, tiny bugs, flying bugs, thousands of bugs. I screamed when I realized, and in came Lee to rescue me from the bugs and throw out the lovely "flowers" he picked.
Flowers on Friday for me has always been more about the thought then the actual flowers, and this week Lee truly out did himself!!

I was reading yesterday's flowers on friday post and saw this one below and had to click on wild flowers.

After reading about the uninvited guests that came with your flowers, I thought I'd offer a tip I use for wild flowers that may have some bugs or those that while beautiful drop pollen or tiny petals like mad. I make a lovely arrangement to leave outside on my deck. Pretty for a side table or even the patio table when not in use.
I had to do this last year when I discover that the lovely bouquet of sea holly (often called thistle) I'd picked from my garden, had the distinct aroma of doggy doo. How unappetizing is that? I was sure one of my kids had stepped in ~ahem~ something without noticing and brought it in on their shoes. Note to readers: enjoy sea holly outdoors left in situ.
An outdoor arrangement was also perfect for a huge bouquet of buttercups that my son and his friend picked for me. So sweet and truly beautiful en masse, however, the pollen that it dropped was best for leaving on the patio.

I love this story! The flowers are pretty. I hope it didn't take too much effort to get all the bugs out of the house.

It is the thought that counts, and it was a lovely one at that.
