Just like the title says!! Today I was Featured at My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia! Thanks so my to Kristin for featuring me She wrote such nice things and it's funny but all the pictures she picked are my favorites too!! Thank you so much again to Kristin! I've had so many people stop by (way more then normal) and leave really nice comments.

Flowers on Friday

This week's Flowers on Friday is a simple one Two red Gerber Daisies with some greenery in a very sweet bud vase. Also pictured is my newest favorite toy. Here at the Manor we keep a lot of houseplants, not only because we like the way they look but more importantly they are natural air filters, absorbing toxins and releasing clean fresh air. This little sprayer keeps all of our house plants humid, moist and in tip top shape. And, because we love to squeeze multiple uses out of everything, it is also works as a very gentle mist/spray for our canary Carson (I always felt that the regular spray bottle would blow him away).

Closet Organizing

Thanks so a slight shoe obsession on my part, and a need for giant clothes on Lee's part, we are stricken with many closet organization issues.
If I had a huge walk in I wouldn't have any issues storing my shoes. I would have one big, beautiful wall, full of shoes. Organized by color, oh no, heel height, no night shoes from day shoes, oh and then there are the boots . . .  I digress. Lee has his fair share of closet issue's (not that he organizes his own closet). Lee is very tall (6'8") and as a result all of his clothes are very big, long to be specific. There is absolutely no room to hang a second bar in his closet. So I guess we could both use a walk in, but if there is only one in any future home, I call dibs, and here it is in writing.
I love the fact that we each have our own closet, but seriously who would think it's a good idea to make them the same size, most women have more clothes then their husbands.
My closet is stuffed to the gills with clothes, shoes purses, and more shoes. Lee installed a very simple, cheap closet unit for me. We bought it on sale for $40 and it was worth every penny. I now have double hanging rods, and a rod for long storage.

The center shelves would be great for storing sweaters, during the winter that's where I store mine, and if I didn't have as many shoes I could store them there during the summer too.I put in two green locker bins, one to store my bathing suits and beach related clothing and the other store my clutches/ small purses.

In my dreamy walk in closet I would also have a wall full of purses. All puffed out and on display, but in real life my purses live at the very top of my closet, impossible to get down with out the help of a very tall husband.

My shoes are like my little babies I wear on my feet. I have always taken to heart that my size may go up and down, my clothes on any given day may be too big or too small, but my shoes, my shoes will always fit. So to make sure my shoes are all visible and properly stored I picked up the shoe organizers from Amazon for less then $14 (you can find them in My Amazon Store under organizing if you want one). I couldn't stand the idea of keeping them in their boxes and not being able to see them everyday, so I deal with the once a month dusting they require (note: Velvet type shoes should be kept in boxes, the dust will eventually kill them).

The last part of organizing in my closet would be this fantastic double wall hook. We each have one in our closet and they are perfect to hang belts from. We bought ours at target, but I have seen them in Rona, Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart and I also have them in My Amazon Store.

Lee's Closet was much easier to organize. He doesn't have room for double hanging rods so all of his clothes would have to hang off the same rod. Because he's so tall we could put shelves right to the ceiling for his folded storage, like sweaters, jeans and shorts, which was really handy as each one of our dresser drawers would only hold one pair of Lee's jeans. He basically wears the same thing to work everyday, no, not the exact same thing but the same idea, dress shirt, dress pants, black socks and dress shoes, which keeps his closet looking neat and tidy most of the time, it also makes a lot of ironing for me but Oprah keeps me company while I do it so it's not so bad. I think the key to keeping Lee's closet looking tidy is the hangers. A few years ago we replaced all the hangers in the house to wood ones, mostly because Lee's clothes would bend the hangers after a few months of use and I thought they would just look better. Wood hangers also Keep your clothes in better shape (no more lines from wire hangers) so we bit the bullet, forked out the cash, and so far have been very impressed with them, as impressed as you can be about hanger performance.

So there's our closets, nothing too special. No walls of shoes and purses, no designer labeled dresses, just organized bliss because what good is a Prada purse if you can't find it.
