Let me begin . . .
We are MOVING!!!! And we are pretty excited about it!
I will start from the beginning. Lee has always had a bit of a commute to work, about 50 minutes each way . . . that's almost 2 whole hours lost in traffic (and that's assuming there were no major accidents or incidents on the roads).
That alone was enough to have us thinking about moving, but Hudson is another major reason. He is a little boy and all the 'warnings' I've received about little boys from friends basically leads me to believe we needed a bigger yard, and stain resistant everything. ;)
We decided to list the house Feb.27th and we had 5 offers from 6 showings by Feb. 28th. We weren't expecting it to go that quickly so we hadn't bought or really looked at anything, so we are a bit behind the gun. So what I really mean is we're homeless, with an 9 month old baby. ;) We are lucky and have late closing dates so we don't have to be out of here until the end of May.
While we don't have a house yet we do have an area picked out. We are moving to a beautiful town with a small town feel, close to beaches and not too far the city! And the best part is, it will be 10 minutes from Lee's work!!!! To say we are excited would be a huge understatement.
As soon as we know where we are moving I will let you know. We are moving to a more expensive area so while we will be increasing our budget, we will be decreasing our house size by almost 1000 square feet, and definitely looking at older homes. But older homes have tons of character, so I am super excited . . . at least until I have to downsize my shoe collection, say it ain't so!! ;)
So that's our BIG news.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure that's a lot of you to take on right now but as a loyal reader of MANY years, I am selfishly so excited to see your new house and watch you transform it! Yay! Also, commuting is terrible, congratulations on getting rid of that time/energy suck!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see you back blogging and congratulations on officially becoming Hudson's parents. What a lucky little boy he is.
ReplyDeleteWe recently downsized moving from a small rural town to a city and had to get rid of a lot of stuff. Even after we moved I had to get rid of things as I thought there would be room in our new fixer.
Happy House Hunting!
How exciting! I can't wait to see your new house & all the beautiful things you'll do to make it your own! =)
ReplyDeleteWow, you are just full of exciting news! We had the same thing happen. We had 2 bidders fighting over our house in Florida. It got so bad we told our realtor to tell each party to send us their highest offer. The best offer wins! We sold our house buy the end of the week we listed it and got more than we asked for! To top it all off, I had already seen a house I liked. We hadn't looked at the inside but loved the outside. Our realtor got us a viewing of the house and the minute I walked in the front door I knew it was the one! They accepted our offer and that was that! We've been in our home a year now and we love it more and more!
ReplyDeleteI hope it's a buyers market where you are. That always makes things easier! Have fun house hunting! I'll be waiting for your next post when you get the time. Hugs & kisses to Hunter & Max!
Hudson, Hudson, Hudson! I'm so sorry, my nephews name is Hunter and I'm having a problem with the two! I'm so embarrassed and ashamed. I so sorry Ashli ;-((
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That is such exciting news!!!! I can't WAIT to see what home you choose and what you are going to do with the place. Make sure to share some pictures as soon as you find 'the one'. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Life will be so much better for your entire family, especially Lee, without that long commute. As much as I love your home, I know that having a yard will be wonderful for Hudson, too. (I have to say that your current double-decker bookcases in your library would scare me for Hudson, so I'm glad that won't be an issue.) I am not at all surprised that your house sold so quickly. Hope that you find the perfect new home.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I know you will find the perfect house to create your home. Also, congrats on the final adoption! Sorry I missed that, but it is truly awesome and I'm so happy for all of you!
ReplyDeleteHow do you know the house will be 1,000 sq ft smaller if you don't have a house picked out yet? Isn't the point of moving to end up with more space, not less?
ReplyDeleteI guess not necessarily, a good way to simplify life and keep energy cost down is to downsize your property. I mean look at the tiny house movement, that is really growing momentum. And hey you know what they say: Small houses grow tight families. (Well.. that is what I tell myself our house is only 800ft )
Deletethat's awesome just think less space means less cleaning time and more family time. we used to have a 45 minute minimum commute ourselves. but abt 10 yrs ago we moved 10 mins and we wouldn't tradeit for anything! I do wish we had a smaller house we really have no need for the size of house we have now but we love our location.
ReplyDeleteLove your Blog. Your house looks like it's in Clayton or Willoughby - if so, We're practically neighbors. Looking forward to the next chapter in your life!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! So exciting :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Glad to see you back blogging, and looking forward to following your new adventure in a new home!
ReplyDeleteThat is super awesomeness!!!! Cannot wait to see your new house!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, congrats on Good Housekeeping. I know you will end up having tons of stuff in there because your second name is Good House Keeping :-)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great! Congrats. We are currently looking to decide whether we sell or do we stay and potentially extend. Great to read up on how the progress went for you (looks like it went really well from the timescales you mentioned) It would be of particular interest on the cost involved in moving (Agent fees, moving fees etc) Congrats again!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on selling your house it's beautiful. I've lived in a 2 story house and a one level house with kids and to be honest the one level is by far more family friendly. A backyard is essential for a swing set or sand pit and the fact that Lee will be able to spend more time with his lovely wife and son. Spending lots of time driving to and from work when you could be with your family it's an easy choice. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia
