    Nursery Update

Because we could get "the call" anytime . . . we wanted to make sure that we were prepared with the basics for a baby. I realize that a mirror and a wagon aren't really baby basics but we wanted the room to be generally ready! ;)
I found this mirror at Homesense about 6 months ago. I had no idea what I wanted to do with it . . . but it was on clearance and I knew that I loved it. I am so glad that I did pick it up because it inspired the perfect color palette for our nursery.
We hung it over our little dresser . . . that is now doubling as a change table with the addition of an organic change pad (that just barely fit on the dresser top).
A friend who just potty trained her last baby, sent a diaper genie type contraption our way so we poped that beside the change table (makes sense).
Other additions would be our very first baby gift from some amazing people in our lives, I am in love with this 3 sprouts laundry bag!!! The bassinet is also from the same friends, we figured we would need a bassinet if we get a quick match . . . but we wouldn't need a crib for a few weeks after that.
Lastly, I was at an antique store in Lyden, Washington a few weeks ago, and I spotted this Radio Flyer wagon. I couldn't resist . . . all kids need a little red wagon of their own.
I hope you enjoyed the little touches to our nursery.

Hoping for a quick match, although every day that passes will feel like another eternity (voice of experience speaking). When your baby comes home to you, you will absolutely forget all the stress of waiting so be sure to document it. My daughter (now 4.5 years old) loves to hear about how much I wanted to be a mommy and what we did when we found out she was joining our family.

So sweet and perfect for a little baby! Is that white cabinet the craft cabinet from your guest room? If so I'd love to see how you are organizing your sewing and craft items!

We wait for the call too, but we didn't prepare the room yet, because we don't know how old will be our child. Not a baby for sure (there are no babies to adopt in Ontario).

Good luck with the waiting, it's the worst part for me! :)

Mimi, good luck. We adopted successfully in Ontario 5 1/2 years ago (sibblings @ 3 &5 at the time). Your time will come and, having been through the system, the match will be a great one. It's as though we've always had our littles. (It took me a couple of seconds to figure out how long ago my little monsters became part of our lives.)

The room looks lovely and I know how much I wanted to become a mother and all I had to do was get pregnant so I had more control I can't imagine how stressful it is to jump through all the hoops and then just wait not knowing when it will be. Having said that your nursery is very you and Lee, and I LOVE the red wagon so here's hoping that your little baby comes sooner rather than later. Parenthood is totally exhausting but totally amazing too. Regards Kathy A Brisbane, Australia

It looks like your just about ready...so exciting! Just a bit of advice, I have that same bassinet which I absolutely adore, my little one was in it for the first few months of her life the only thing is the separation between the rungs is the perfect width for them to stick their little arms and legs thru but the can't figure out how to get them back. It happened a few times to baby girl before we finally figured to run a super thin and breathable piece of fabric around the bassinet weaving thru the rungs that way baby doesn't suffocate and all their little baby limbs stay safely inside. Enjoy your little one! I hope you get him/her very soon!

It looks terrific! But one thing (not to be a debbie downer), but I have a 3 month old, and I also had a mirror over the changing table. Pretty much from day 1 she was hitting it with her arms, grabbing at it. It made me so scared, so the mirror immediately came down! Just be careful!!

Best wishes on the arrival of your little one. Parents who adopt are EXTRA SPECIAL !!!!

Be sure to velcro or secure the changing mat to the dresser. Little babies love to move.

That mirror is cute, but I bet you have to move it about 3 seconds into your first changing experience. LOL! A cute DIY mobile from the ceiling might be a better option...even little babies will make a wall hanging a hazard in the changing area. You don't want to be cleaning poop off it, if it does manage to stay attached anyhow. :) In reality we did all our changing on the bed or floor. It's amazing how squirmy they get so quickly!

I wish you luck in getting the call and hope it goes quickly for you!!

Love the colour palette: it's the same one that I used (actually it runs through my whole home!). The mirror is fantastic and I'm a little jealous that I didn't see it at Homesense myself. Where is the cabinet from?

Your nursery is adorable. I hope your baby finds you soon.
I have enjoyed your greener living tips. Please rethink the diaper genie. You will be adding another layer of plastic to the landfill.

Coming along great! Great find with the mirror that will help inspire so many other things! One thing that surprised me was how quickly my little one grew longer than the changing pad. I think around 10/11 months his feet started dangling off. Also if you have a place downstairs that you can create another changing station (we did my dryer) it will make your life easier vs having to run upstairs or change on the floor each time!

You would be surprised how easy cloth diapers are or can do the hybrid route with G diapers.

P.S. Lynden not Lyden... ;) Being from there I noticed :)

Congrats on your new bundle of joy! I just had to comment about the diaper genie...I lived and learned when I used one with my daughter. No matter how contained you think the diaper smell stays in those things until you use it and realize that it doesn't you will soon realize that nothing beats the good old...change a dirty diaper and toss it directly OUTSIDE the house.

I did a downstairs change station with a flat pad that slipped under the couch and a basket with the diapers, wraps and diaper wipes.
We are headed through Lynden on Monday but don't think I can convince my family to stop at the cute shops.
      Enjoy your baby preparations.
