I ran a bit wild with the elephant theme in Hudson's nursery. What started as a onesie quickly spiralled into crib sheets which snowballed into a theme.
Hudson is at the stage where anything high contrast is super interesting to him, so I thought I would try to find something high contrast for him too look at in his bedroom. I wasn't sure if I would choose a piece of art or maybe a mobile but I ended up finding this fabric on www.fabric.com for an amazing $7.98 a yard and just like that the curtains became my high contrast piece.
Hudson LOVES his new curtains!!! We picked up a set of black out blinds from Target to block the light . . . a must have in a nursery and we just hung them behind the elephant curtains. Black out blinds are a bit pricey so we bought short ones and hung the less expensive elephant curtains in front.
I can't wait to share the rest of the nursery with you guys. I am trying to put the finishing touches on it this week. It feels a bit weird to be tackling Hudson's nursery this far after he was born but we only had 9 days to prepare for what most couples have 9 months to do. :) haha.

It's way more exciting decorating for a little person now you have him than someone you haven't met. I love the idea of the contrast B&W elephants. Check out Elise's nursery for her baby girl Ellerie (I know you have a boy) however she has a link to some lovely wooden toys and wonderful prints for the wall on Etsy. ReplyDeleteHi! It's Jodi, from North Delta. You gave me some tips for starting up a blog awhile ago. I've finally got it up and running!! Thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteThose curtains are so cute - looking forward to seeing the rest of the room. Many congratulations on your new baby boy!!! He is one lucky little guy! :)
Soooooo cute! Did you use black out blinds or are they panels? Great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great price on the fabric, and the curtains are adorable! And the black and white contrast are perfect for wee Hudson's development at this stage...I remember drawing black swirls and a checkerboard on heavy white cardboard and hanging it up by my newborn's (I have three children) changing area - they loved it :) I really am looking forward to seeing the rest of the nursery - and I second the vote for posting pics of Hudson and his parents enjoying this lovely nursery!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous curtains, I love the contrast and who doesn't love an elephant? So much more imaginative than when I had my babies and we stuck to the traditional pastels. Can't wait to see the rest of the nursery. :)

I love the contrast of the drapes. And don't feel bad, I had nine months warning and still didn't get my son's nursery done (the way I wanted) until he was 10 mos old. Keep enjoying that baby boy!
ReplyDeleteLoved the elephant print best for kids room
ReplyDeleteBelated congratulations!! Take your time on the nursery, which is looking great. As long as you have the basics, Hudson will be happy. I love the elephants!
ReplyDeleteLove the elephant theme...it's a pretty popular animal in our girly household too! I also noticed the carousel zebra on the window sill. This could turn into a jungle animal theme as Hudson gets older and starts accumulating toys. Decorating for little ones is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteif there's a mommy in the country who can keep a rein on expenses, it's got to be you, Ashli. am fully expecting that you will keep Hudson looking spiffy for years to come and your nest looking like a million on a shoestring, as per usual. lots of love and luck. the curtains are GLORIOUS. you'll be super busy... and speaking from experience, remember to brush your hair! :) how's Max taking it?
ReplyDeleteCute curtains. You are doing a great job as usual. Now.. time to change your profile to include .."and our wonderful son Hudson!"
