I wanted to share what we've got going on under the kitchen sink.
I have a future plan for some of our more frequently used cleaning supplies and that will be installed on the other side of the kitchen sink cabinet. But I still had to find a way to store the supplies that only get used in the kitchen . . . like sponges, dishwasher detergent, etc. . .
I wanted to be able to access everything easily so I thought about a lazy susan. I found this XL turntable on Clearance at Homesense for $7! It's HUGE at 18" it just barely fit in the cabinet (you can find the same one on Amazon for $17 HERE).
I found little clear plastic containers from the dollar store for our sponges, and a plastic container with a spout also from The Dollar Tree for our homemade powdered dishwasher detergent.
And I am in love with these tiny bottles of club soda from Target!! :)
It is really nice to be able to access all of our supplies and there's the added bonus that I get to feel like a DJ with my new turn table!!! ;) haha
"You spin me right round, baby, right round
like a record baby, right round round round."
like a record baby, right round round round."
Do you have a blog post on how to make your homemade dishwasher detergent? And do you find it works well? I'm looking at making my own but haven't given it a try yet.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best things I ever did was organize under my sink. I have my under cabinet separated into two zones too. One side has everything for the kitchen and the other side I have everything in a travel catty so I can carry it from room to room.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cabinet! How do you make your dishwasher detergent? I have yet to find the right 'recipe' - with homemade detergent my dishes have always have a light film on them (so I have had to use commercial detergent, which I'd really like to get away from).
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that so much needs to be stored under kitchen sinks, but due to plumbing and as you love to call them "garbarators" there is never any room!!! I fight with this spot ALL the time. Ok, what's the club soda for???
ReplyDeleteClub soda is a great stain remover. I would guess with beautifully light colored home she uses it often :)
DeleteI totally agree the darn garbarator always gets in the way.
DeleteAnd Yes the Club soda is great for getting out Carpet stains! :)

fabulous ideas!
ReplyDeleteLOL Now I will have that song stuck in my head all day! Love the lazy susan idea. It is a tough spot to organize with such limited space. I too would love to learn your dishwasher recipe. I have tried a few "green" ones but they didn't work to well. I would love to make my own.
ReplyDeletegreat idea, just spin when you need something in the back, need to get me one of those..
ReplyDeleteI also would love to hear about your homemade dishwashing detergent. I don't think I have seen you blog about it yet. If so could you point us in the direction of that post? THANKS!! I have tried so many and none have worked so far. Results have been dirty dishes and a film on all the glass.
ReplyDeleteI'm inspired! My kitchen sink cabinet needs attention, pronto!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, my favorite 80s song with some organization turntable love. Nice!!
ReplyDeleteAshli, I make my own detergents too, but my dish soap ALWAYS clumps. Do you have any tips or tricks, or does yours clump too?
ReplyDeleteI would love your homemade dishwasher detergent. We have one so I'd love to compare!
ReplyDeletewhich dollar store did you get the clear containers from? You always seem to find the greatest containers and when I go to the same stores, I find nothing.
ReplyDeleteAwesome solution, Ashli! I love how you always include green choices in your products. I just posted about how we organize under our kitchen sink, too! Now you've inspired me to go back & eco-fy my cleaning stuff! Great post!
ReplyDeleteI literally can't stop laughing....last night I went crazy. Pulled everything out from under the kitchen sink and started organizing. (this all started because I went to Wal-Mart for toilet bowl cleaner, and came out of there with 3 bags of organizers, haha!). As I was sitting there putting everything back in, I thought....I wonder how Ashli would do this, I really should probably email her and ask her to do a post on this. NO freakin' joke... hahahahahaa!!!!!

I have a request. What personal care (hair and skin) products do you use. You always put a lot of thought into every product you use, or so it seems, and you have lovely skin and hair so i would love to know your choices. Also how you store them, of course!
