So I ran Secure Check to make sure that we aren't spreading something bad! And we're NOT. Our Status is Verified Clean! (I checked on 4 different site checkers and they all came back clean, phew!).
But something is definitely going on! All of the articles I've read, point towards being hacked. So we spent most of our weekend changing passwords and going through our "code". We didn't really find too much, but honestly I have NO idea what I'm doing in this realm.
Where am I going with this?
- First: If anyone has dealt with this please tell me what you did or who you hired to fix it!
- Second: I think, just to be extra safe, I won't be posting this week until we figure it out. In the off chance that we could spread a virus I don't want to take any chances.
I'm so sorry for the break in posting and for the pop up messages. And a BIG thank you to everyone who let us know! The good news is, is that if we are in fact "Hacked" it doesn't look like they got too far!
Be back as soon as possible!!! (hopefully by the end of this week) Lots of Love
My husband is in the internet/firewall security field. I explained to him what was happening (when I accessed your site) and he thinks it might have been one of your side bar ads causing the issue. But, I'm not getting the "warning" today so I couldn't actually show him the warning. He is going to look at your site later - I will let you know if he finds anything. Also, my work has totally blocked your site so I will check today to see if it's still blocked (I'm at home now).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Mary. I read your comment and checked out my ADs like your husband suggested and he was right! It was one of our ad networks and it should be all fixed now!!!
DeleteThank you so much for taking the time! And Thank your husband for me!! :)
Lots of Love
Ashli
This happened to a friend of mine last week- And as Mary said above, caused by an ad on her blog. I'll send you her info, I'm sure she'd be glad to help!
ReplyDeleteI was getting the same problem with your site for quite awhile and also stopped visiting....But, today nothing! Hope it's fixed!
ReplyDeleteP.S. It was a Malware warning that popped up!
Thank you!!! I wasn't sure if it was Malware or not!!! It should be fixed now!!!
DeleteYes, I got a virus from a link you had posted actually. It was about a week ago and another commenter said the same thing, that when they clicked the link it gave them a virus. My husband is an Computer Network engineer so he fixes all my computer 'situations', so I don't have any advice for who to go to help. :( Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteRead this blog. Sounds like she had a similar problem...maybe it will shed some light:

Thanks so much for the link Julie!!!!

I was one who posted here getting that virus message from my Trend Micro. Usually I get it when I first open your site so I normally close and the second time I open it, no more virus warning. I did that for almost a week I think although it's been a week that I am not getting any message anymore.
ReplyDeleteWow. . .sorry you're having a problem. I haven't personally had any problem at all viewing your website. Hope you get it fixed soon!!
ReplyDeleteI personally never had any such warning accessing your site since I started it almost 6 months ago. And we have a pretty strong anti-virus here at work :), so don't worry...!!! Cheers ! :)
ReplyDeleteAshli, I too have NEVER got a warning on your site...and you know I don't miss a day!! I agree it was probably one of those ads. A lot of times it is a bogus site selling bogus anti-virus software, they tell you you have a virus prompting you to purchase their product...they take the money, and you really don't have a virus.
ReplyDeleteI have NEVER got any warnings from your site and I check almost everyday! Hope you can get everything figured out! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI've never had a warning either, but at the end of last week Sophos sent out an update and it was creating False Warnings. The issue was worldwide and they sent out an appology once it was fixed. Maybe that was what was happening {For those with Sophos} since it doesn't seem to be everyone?
ReplyDeleteI have never had any issues with your blog! I check almost every day, as well.
ReplyDeleteI did receive a warning about a adware virus when I logged on my daughter's laptop Thursday. However the next day the warning wasn't there. By the way it was picked up by her Norton anti-virus program.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick update - I'm at work and your site is not blocked today. I think whatever the issue, it seems to be resolved.
ReplyDeleteI got a msg.... a few times. Scared the crap outa me. HA!! I hope you get everything fixed soon.
ReplyDeleteI was hacked they started advertising on my blog, got in my email. I am blessed with a niece & her spouse who got back my blog & email changed the pass word & put a anti virus something or other on it. I had 5 Viruses and I have a MAC! That was 2 years ago and nothing since!
ReplyDeleteMy website was hacked a few months ago and I wrote a blog about it. Maybe it will help. My hacker was pretty intense he took down my entire site and put up a nice picture with his name telling me I was hacked....oh and he had some awful music playing too. It was truly disturbing. I can see that your site is at least up and running so that's a good thing. But check out my post just in case! Good luck!

The other day I did get the warning message from my antivirus, but today I got through with no problem. Hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a problem with your blog but did with another a little while ago.
ReplyDeleteI always got a message that there was a problem with it and it would then close down.
It turned out it was a problem with My RAM, not the blog I was looking at.
Since I've had the RAM replaced it's now fine and there are no problems
This happened to me. Here's what I did: http://www.skooksplayground.com/2012/08/aaaaand-im-back.html
ReplyDeleteI tried to leave this comment on a related post, however, was unable to, I figured the most recent post will do. In no way is this meant to be rude or condescending, that said, I've noticed that you have been calling Dr. Bronner's soap Dr. BroMMer's. I'm not sure if it's just a typo or you actually think it is called Dr. Brommer's, either way, it urks me quite a bit. Just thought you should know, it's Dr. Bronner's, two N's, not M's. :)
ReplyDeleteNot to be rude or condescending as well Samantha, but I'd say that it IRKS me that you would spell "irk" wrong. It's an "i", not "u". :) :)
DeleteI've never had a problem with your blog. However, I strongly recommend you set your blog up with Google Webmaster Tools to monitor your site's health and troubleshoot any problems the moment they arise.
ReplyDeleteI had an issue with your site, about a week ago, on my pc (using win7) but when I access it with my laptop (mac) I have no issues. The infected ad (if it's an ad) directed me to another site as my anti-virus was sounding all the bells and whistles. I do use Avast on both of my computers.
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like i missed all the excitement. i never had any problems with your blog, and am looking forward to you getting back with the inspiration soon. :) hugs, I
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a problem with your site, but I got that same error on two other blogs I visit but it didn't hurt my computer. I don't know what is going on.
