Reaching new heights in the Kitchen!

I got a big boost in the kitchen, thanks to our new kitchen step stool!
We found it at Ikea for $32.99 it's called the Bekvam Stepladder and it's super cute! It comes in unfinished wood and we sprayed it "Sun Yellow" by Rust-oleum.
But I think that my favorite part is the wall hook that came with it . . . yes, included in the package.
The ladder folds up and hangs on the wall perfectly out of the way!
Lee better get ready for some new recipes now that I can reach my cookbooks ;).

Off topic question. What kind of stone floor do you have? Marble? Do you find them hard to keep clean, including the grout? -Jackie

It's a Travertine! The stone has held up really well but the grout is very light and is very difficult to keep clean!!
        Hope that helps

I have a tumbled marble so it's similar, problem is the marble absorbs stains and we have thick grout lines, so after five years I noticed it was looking not so beige in pictures. We got the floors professionally sanded and cleaned and sealed this year, but it's still not perfect, but to most people, they would be haha. I have the eyes of a hawk. Mind you, I sealed my floors every year on my own but the wear and tear of kitchen life and a big dog took it's toll.

Awesome yellow stool! I like that your keeping it in the kitchen where your going to use it. Im rethinking where I store everything now .. My handy step is kept in the man cave which is the furthest room from the kitchen which makes no sence!

goodness how do you keep it all so clean and bright?! i love how the yellow shirt coordinates with the stool too. :) i've got a sturdy steel and plastic 2 step thingy which makes-do, but i really love your concept of painting everything to make it a happier place.

I love how you spray painted that great yellow!! I am crushing on the combination of yellow and gray. Anyways, enough about me, that step ladder will certainly come in hand when Lee isn't around because I'm sure he can reach those recipe books for you. Can you imagine Lee on that? Some reason I'm imagining a funny image. Have a great week Ashli.

Oh how I wish we had an IKEA near us. The closest one is 2 hours away in Calgary. My Mom could certainly use a handy step stool like that, just to reach the regular cupboards. Love how you customized it with colour.
      Have a wonderful day! :)

I like this step tool, I found the same like this on Amazon. Very cheap and
can use anywhere you need it.

I also have a little wooden step stool I am looking to brighten up a little. (Honestly mine gets used most to turn off the over sensitive smoke detector in the hallway that seems to go off when I broil anything!) How did you make sure you got all the wood parts around the metal hinge without painting the metal itself? Did it take some touching up or just tape and go? Thanks!

This is a great component to keep in a kitchen. Aside from custom bar stools, we now have step stools for climbing higher positioned cabinets around the kitchen. That's a great application.
