    Statement Piece

Lately I've been thinking that our dining room might be in need of a Statement Piece. I'm not about to switch out our dining room pendant just yet, but I am on the hunt for something large and in charge!
Here's what I've sourced so far . . . I might be seeing some DIY lighting in our future:
Option 1: From Pottery Barn. I love that it's totally weird and kind of quirky. And the small space dweller that still lives in me thinks that storing your wine glasses as a chandelier is a great use of space ;). I thought with Lee's welding skills DIYing something like this with dollar store wine glasses would be kind of cool.

Option 2: Is from Candelabra and at $1200 a completely unrealistic choice for our Manor. But I could also see some form of DIY maybe using an existing Chandelier from Craigstlist and some Beads.

Option 3: Is from Lucy Renshaw, I have no idea how much it is, but I saw it on Apartment Therapy a while back and the image has always stuck in my head. It's made from wood but it looks like ribbon, I'm seriously in LOVE. I'm not sure if it would fit into our existing decor but who cares, for something this cool I'll redecorate the entire house (Lee if you're reading this Calm Down I'm not going to redecorate the whole house!). ;)

I saw a pin on Pinterest on how to DIY that beaded chandelier....I didn't pin it, but I'm sure that you could find it easily.

I am also enthralled with chandiliers at the moment. I saw one I think in CB2 that was wine bottles and I thought that was brilliant since I save all my "memorable" wine bottles from birthdays, celebrations etc. Until I realized...it came with the bottles. So, I figured doing a DIY wouldn't be too hard. I just don't have a Lee to help weld! Good luck! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Oooh that second one is to die for!

I have seen some DIY Mason jar pendants around... maybe you could try something like that? Still kitchen/food-related without having to worry about somehow knocking into your wine-glass-holding-light-fixture and breaking your glasses AND your lamp!

I love the one with the wine glasses, but wouldn't want to have to clean it! I too have seen a DIY version of the 2nd one.

love No1 but I think No2 is more suited for your decor. Can No3 be an out door item for your back yard. No3 looks a little country and your home isnt that style. Looking forward to seeing your choice and the results

Beautiful! My husband and I just finished DIY-ing an insane, huge light fixture for our dining room and we LOVE it. It's a big project to undertake, but it's so worth it!

Oh my.... love the wine glasses chandelier! That is so cool for a dining room. I think Lee could totally do it. Plus... it would be super easy to clean. Just run the glasses thru the dishwasher periodically.

Trying to DIY that beaded pendant seems like a nightmare to me. LOL

The third one is totally cute, but it doesn't seem to fit in with your house. It would be really cute as an outside light, tho.

In the USA, there is a slightly different chandy - same look for much less than $1200! sold by Pottery barn for $499/-. maybe they ship to Canada ...?

What a coincidence, tonight I was just debating lighting fixtures for our dining room in our local Homesense! They had identical versions to Restoration Hardware's Wine Barrel 5-Arm Chandelier, the Wine Barrel 6-Arm Round Chandelier and the Foucault's Iron Orb Chandelier medium size (which is the one we walked out with!) The Orb chandelier at Restoration Hardware-$795, my knock off from Homesense-$129.99!!
Can't wait to see what you come up with!

There's a pendant light I've been eyeing for almost a year- I know it would look perfect in our dining room but I haven't been able to convince my husband that we don't need the ceiling fan!
