We spent our Canada Day planting Maple Trees in the back yard . . . it doesn't get more Canadian then that!
Then we finished off the night with a HUGE fireworks display that we could see from our house, kind of romantic if I hadn't followed each explosion with "OH, S#*T that one scared me!!" That's me, a moment killer! :S Looking back I've Killed more moments then I care to admit, one day I'll share the story of the night we got engaged . . . I more then Killed that moment. I killed it, then revived it, only to kill it again! And don't even get me started on our first dance at our wedding . . . geez!
You are so funny! Happy {belated} Canada Day!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I look forward to hearing about your moment killing! My husband accuses me of that often!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up, happy canada day.
ReplyDeleteXO
Happy Belated Canada Day. Our town doesn't do a fireworks display. Not sure if it's because it's usually so darn windy here (which it was yesterday) or because a nearby town puts on a huge display. Just as well as fireworks turn my dog into a quivering mess even the ones the neighbors and kids set off.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
Happy Canada Day, Moment Killer! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Maple Trees, I have four of them in my yard as well. A little piece of Canada down here in Minnesota, I guess!
Ashli,
ReplyDeleteThis post had laughing. I'm a Moment Killer and didn't even realize that there was a title. I too killed the moment when my husband asked me to marry him! ~Catherine in Edmonds
Happy {belated] Canada Day!! I'm dying to know your engagement story!!! LOL :)
ReplyDelete"one day I'll share the story of the night we got engaged. . . I more then Killed that moment". I'm really intrigued now, share it!
ReplyDeleteOh and happy Canada day!
You crack me up Ashli!!! Happy Canada Day to you too.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to tell you how funny you are! Love it!
ReplyDeletehow many maple trees?? what with you moaning about your miniscule yard and all, i cant wait to see where you've planted them. incidentally, i had to dig a teeny tiny one out from the front yard - darn thing shot up from beneath the hydro meter, just a scant inch or 2 in front of the foundation. it's funny because there's not a single one anywhere on our street, and i was hoping to be the first to start one in my yard. oh, and what kind are they and where did you buy them and how much did they cost?
ReplyDeleteWhenever I see the Canadian Flag I think of many childhood vacations spent in New Brunswick!
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear your engagement story... sounds intriguing for sure!
ReplyDeleteIn 2006, I spent Canada Day in Pennsylvania with my Canadian boyfriend at my daughter's wedding; the day after (my birthday) at Niagara Falls watching the US-Canada joint 4-day fireworks display; and, The Fourth of July back in Oshawa as just another Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Moment Killer. I fancy myself as a Major Oooh-Ahh-er! ;)
Fun! Yes, you must share the stories!!
ReplyDeleteI have followed you for a while but never commented but on your proposal I am with you I am surprised he still asked. I would not have asked me.
