I might have stretched the truth slightly with the title of this post, but I think this is the most beautiful bouquet I've ever had in my house!!!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again . . . Peonies are amazing!
I grabbed this 10 bloom bouquet from the grocery store for $9.99 (I love peony season).
The buds were all closed up so as far as I knew we were getting purple-y pink peonies . . . one hour later they had opened up and I got my first glimpse of the amazing Yellow interior (the Stamens).
I was so pleasantly surprised, until another hour passed and the smell came . . . these particular peony's don't have a 'pleasant' smell. But they are so beautiful I put them beside an open window and admired them from afar!
This is where blogging really has it's advantages . . . you can see them . . . but you can't smell them. haha
Hope you have a great weekend! We're on the hunt for patio furniture this weekend, and fabric . . . I'm a perpetual fabric hunter!! ;).

Do they smell kind of off? I've had a bunch of peonies in my living room for about a week, and since the weekend, I've been searching for the source of a smell. It smells like something is going bad. I've changed the water a few times. It didn't occur to me that the smell might be the actual flowers!
ReplyDeleteExactly, they just smell off! At first I thought it was garbage . . . then I thought it was the water (like rotting leaves in water). But that's just how they smell. I really only notice it when they're super close to me!! :)
DeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one!

ReplyDeleteThose are Japanese Tree Peonies. Such a beautiful color and they look gorgeous in your white vase!
ReplyDeletehappy fab shopping! sounds like a great w/e. if u find any great deals on patio furniture pass it on, we are looking too. and they are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCheck out Ikea for yard furniture! I drove 2 hours yesterday with a gal pal to get to the "local" Ikea and discovered they have a whole new line of really nice outdoor furniture. And given your love of Ikea, you'll probably be there this weekend anyways!
ReplyDeleteThanks I'll check'em out, but not on the weekend I would never go to ikea on a weekend . . . that place is a Zoo on Saturdays and Sundays!!!
DeleteThanks again,

Gorgeous shots! I love capturing flowers with my lil' cam. Soooo fun and soooo pretty ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. Happy weekend to you.
ReplyDeleteI think you are right with your post title. And I love the simple white vase that sets off the bright color of the flowers. Thanks for brightening up my day!
ReplyDeleteLove peonies! We have them in our backyard. I had to transplant them when we redid the lawn this summer, but they'll be back next year. Some give off a "smell", others not so much. Nothing is worse than when the Bradford Pears bloom here however, it smells like DEAD FISH!!! Yuck. Love the vibrant pink against the white vase.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I agree...IKEA has some great outdoor furniture. We are looking to change ours out and I like a lot of their pieces. Especially the weathered gray.
i also LOVE peonies but didn't know that different varieties smelled differently (although I should have figured).
ReplyDeletethe arrangement is really pretty with the bright pink against the white.
happy weekend!
Peonies are my favorite flower .......... I can smell them from here, really!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove Peonies!!! Just bought some bulbs and will plant in the fall!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have a peony plant that is supposed to have very similar blooms but each year it struggles and only grows about a foot tall. My other peony which has soft pink and white flowers, bloomed like crazy this year. Huge blooms too, some were over 7 inches wide and they have a nice light scent. I even brought some inside and they are still blooming in just water. I really didn't think they'd last.
ReplyDeleteAlso, wanted to let you know I received the ebook. Thanks again. I plan on taking it with me when we head out camping next week.
Have a great weekend!
They are so bright and sassy, very feminine I like them :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the furniture shopping hope you find what your looking for
Those are really vibrant and unique peonies. I just chopped a bunch out of my yard...palest pinks and some bolder ones. Love how they continue to open in the house. Don't love the ants from the garden variety...
