6:30 amLee's up and leaving for work.
8:00 am I tidy the kitchen from the night before. I try to clean up after dinner but Lee usually makes a mess first thing in the morning, and I usually make a mess last thing before I go to bed. I'll fill the dishwasher and turn it on!
8:30 am I check on blog posts. Answer some questions in the comment section. Deal with other blog work. Probably start a blog post or two. I work on Posts while eating something for breakfast usually something small I'm not a big Breakfast eater (yogurt or cereal, probably some fruit).
11:00 am is usually when I walk away from the computer and start on house tasks. What I do seriously depends on what day it is. Check out my Cleaning Schedule for what gets cleaned when. Let's say it's a Tuesday, I would be cleaning the main floor, which includes floors, dusting, vacuuming, putting away items, cleaning the kitchen (inside the fridge, counters, floors, sink).
I'll also tackle any baking projects I'm hoping to make, or if I'm making a dinner that needs to cook for a while I'll prep it Now!
2:00 pm I'm Starving Now so I'm on the hunt for food. But I also have to take photos for the blog before the light goes away . . . ahhhh. Food Wins. I'll grab something leftover, or I'll throw together a salad, lately I've been really into Romaine lettuce with a Japanese dressing on top, some peppers and cucumber cut up on top! My Dad smokes salmon like it's his purpose in life, so we always have some yummy smoked salmon around.
If I have to pop out of the house to run errands this is when I do that.
4:00 pm I'm back from errands. Oh Crap I was suppose to take blog photos! Grab the camera . . . fluff the pillows . . . take the shot. Swear at the Camera for not taking the shot right (clearly it's the cameras fault). Re-take shot.
5:00 pm Lee's home by now and we eat dinner. After dinner, Lee will put the dishes in the dishwasher while I make his lunch for the next day. I like to make it now because the knives and cutting boards are already dirty so I'm not making more dishes. If we have leftovers I'll pop those into a container and then my job is done (leftovers rock!).
5:30 pm Dog walking time. Max is getting old so one short walk a day is all the little guy can handle. We like to walk the dog together, it's the only time we're not "plugged in", in some way or another. It's our quiet time, where we talk about the day and plan the rest of the evening.
Project time!!!! We'll work on projects. Lee is a serious busy body and can't stand to stay still for more then 5 minutes so he's ready to start right after dinner. This is when I sew
or when Lee tackles things that involve math or tools haha. Just general project doing.
8:00 pm I re-open my lap top and start editing the photos I took. I put the finishing touches on the post for tomorrow. I'm also watching some terrible T.V. during this time (not that TV is terrible . . . what I choose to watch is usually terrible haha).
This is also my time to go through blogs and sites . . . or just generally waste a bit of time on the Internet.
~Or~
If I'm looking for something specific on craigslist I'll spend a few minutes rolling around in the furniture section.
Lee will usually be checking his email and work account to make sure nothing catastrophic happened at work . . . or watching a show of his own (Game of Thrones anyone?).
10:30 pm We start saying we should go to bed . . . but we spend another 1/2 hour on the couch.
11:00 pm Bed Time! Lee falls asleep within .12 seconds of his head hitting the pillow. I open my book to read a chapter . . . 6 chapters and 2 hours later I'm still reading. I finally decide I should be responsible and go to bed . . . another 20 pages later I close the book and fall asleep! :) Sweet Dreams!
Sounds like Bliss to me!
ReplyDeletei couldn't say it any better than ReenieKDesigns, so i'll just 2nd her comment, lol!
ReplyDeleteI love posts like this! I always like to see a peek into what a typical day is for others, especially the bloggers I follow. My husband is exactly the same way...can NOT sit down for more than 60 seconds and then passes out like he's been given anesthesia the second his head hits the pillow.
ReplyDeleteI agree.... your day sounds perfect. I love that you are so happy with your life. It definately shows. :) So happy for you!!
ReplyDeleteSounds similar to most of our days. Mark is working more and more from home now which is nice because with both girls gone it gets a bit too quiet sometimes.
ReplyDeleteThis may be too personal- but what does Lee do for work?
ReplyDeletesounds heavenly. i'm so happy that you guys have it all together, and God bless you! i know what the "anon" person means above about what Lee does for a living! -- i've honestly wondered about your budgeting issues as well, because you make it sound almost too easy to be super perfect AND frugal! :D I thought he might be doing something in construction, seeing as he can pull off barn doors and paint jobs and paneling and welding and whatnot!
ReplyDeleteI love it! It sounds like perfection to me as well. This goes back a little bit to your post yesterday as well, but I really appreciate that you stay home (when that's what you want to do) even before having kids. Once my husband finishes university and gets a job (Hopefully in just 3 months now!), I want to stay home as well. When I've told friends or family this, I've gotten some pretty negative responses because "there's no reason to stay home without kids." Thanks for being an inspiration, and keep doing what you're doing! Or whatever else makes you happy. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a pretty good day to me!
ReplyDeleteYour "normal" days sound awesome. I was a housewife for seven weeks before our daughter was born, and I pretty much loved it. In fact, I regretted not doing it sooner. And it was awesome for my marriage, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat's funny, is that I was planning on coming to the blog today to ask you about how you leave your kitchen at night. ha! I was curious if you ran the dishwasher at night, or what. Your normal days sounds wonderful. I am so glad you get to share your love of being a housewife. =) It's something I want to focus on more (it makes my husband happy), but I also have to balance the three kids and full time job. But your tips and posts really help provide guidance on how it can be done, even for us working moms. P.S. I do work from home, so that does make things a LITTLE easier. =) Thanks, Ashli!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like lovely days...you're so organized with your time. But of course we knew that! ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me! ...hey if your not busy tomorrow @ Wendells in Fort Langley a few of us bloggers are meeting up with Kerry of First Time Fancy...only moved here from TO a while back...would love to see you.
ReplyDeleteYou could time slot that in as meeting up with girlfriends!...hahah...@12:30!
People who criticize you for being a housewife are jealous. They just won't acknowledge that you make sacrifices in order to do so.
ReplyDeleteFun to read! The first thing I want to do during the day is errands...I was surprised you do them in the afternoon (you know, because I have opinions about when strangers do errands)! :) I love all the inspiration you offer!
ReplyDeleteDelightful!
ReplyDeleteSounds like our life lol!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to your posts everyday!!! Thanks for sharing

Yesterday I had to explain why I loved being a housewife. I put a link to your article on facebook. There are not many people who understands me but it's nice to see that I am not alone.
ReplyDeleteAnd today I see you have almost the same schedule as me. Except I do not have a blog but I spend much time on the internet want to read and some others.
And I live at the other end of the world, in France.
Thank you for your blog, he is great.
Charlotte
I love a day in the life posts.. you get to see what someone elses life is like. I actually did one last week too, but mine was a bit crazier than yours (kids can make your day a bit crazy!) Your day sounds lovely. Love your blog, and your style. Take care.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely life! I am lucky enough to only have to work Mon-Wed but I'd love to be home full time. I have no kids and I wouldn't care if anyone criticized that decision if i ever decide to do that. There is nothing better than being home and enjoying life the way you want it! With 4 day weekends I still can't manage to be as organized as you are but that would be amazing.
