    Double Duty

Thank you so much for all the laundry room LOVE yesterday!!!

I mentioned before how our laundry room is also our mudroom, in fact I had to take the pictures of the laundry room from the garage, I even had to sit on Lee's car to get "the shot". :)

So you've seen the laundry side of the room, here's the mudroom side: (that's the door to the garage)
The Bench and coat hooks are from Ikea! I chose that bench because 1) it fit perfectly. 2) it's raised up on wheels so warm air from the furnace vent can get out and circulate and 3) the bench opens up and is the perfect spot for our reusable grocery bags :)

The two number hooks were a $3 homesense find, they are the perfect spot to hang our keys or a dog leash, and the definitely the perfect spot to hang our door stop.
Speaking of our door stop, Lee made it for me a couple years ago from an old post my parents had in their basement, he drilled a hole and I attached a dark brown ribbon. I seriously use it everyday, it might be the most useful item in our house . . . besides Lee ;).

I am loving that bench! We are desperately trying to find one for by our back door to replace a wobbly non-efficient one, but most are too long for our space. Love the addition of the hooks as well. I so need a door stop like that! Great idea.

You have made such a pretty and efficient space! Our old house had a similar laundry room setup, so I KNOW the challenges of this space and the absolute need for serious function. You brought it home girlfriend!

What's your secret for getting Lee to make all these things for you? My hubby is very handy but would rather work on more macho projects that cute stuff for the house.

I used to have that same coat rack at my old place! I love the idea of hanging the door stop. Not exactly something I can do in my house right now since my door stop is a very heavy but small OLD-fashion iron, LOL! Maybe someday!

Your new mudroom area is so pretty!

We just added some function to our laundry room a month or 2 back and I love it! We have hooks for coats and hooks for keys along with places for paper. =)

Genius! Never crossed my mind about a door stop that hangs, so it is out of the way until it is needed. Going to have my hubby make two of them for me. If he can't maybe I can pay you for them?

We own the same coat rack from Ikea & I really like how well that bench goes with it. Can I ask the name of the bench from Ikea? I tried to do a search but didn't find that one on their site. Thanks!!

Oh wow, it's fantastic! I am also just redoing our mud room/laundry room (check my blog!) and like yours, ours has a door to the garage. It's a pity that it's the law here in Germany that we have to have those ugly metal doors between house and garage for safety reasons... I really don't know how to beautify that ...
I LOVE (and will copy) your door stop solution, it's so simple, but I couldn't have thought of that myself. Ours is always on the floor behind the door and gets lost sometimes between my laundry baskets ...

It looks great! I'm trying to talk my landlord into re-imbursing us if we remodel a few things (like the laundry room, which is the first things guests see). Good thing my mother-in-law is the apt office manager! This gives me a few ideas... ;)

Did you know the best security for a woman traveling alone in a hotel room is an old fashioned rubber door stop! It IS! No one can get in even with a key -- a friend was napping one day and someone came in his hotel room to rob him -- the maid had sold the key! (It wasn't in the US) So your man Lee is keeping you safe too! :)

Your laundry room is very inspiring! I am wanting to get ours done too. When we built our house they didn't add cabinets and hubby didn't want a laundry tub, which now he is regretting. So, we are pulling up linoleum and adding putting tile on the floor. We want to add a sink base and a drop in laundry tub as well as cabinets above the washer and dryer. Ours is tiny too. I think I would have to sit on the car in the garage to get some pics too! :)

      So Sorry ,
I know that they don't carry it any longer, we bought it over a year ago and it was on clearance then.

The name of the bench is ALVE, I was thinking you might have some luck on Craigslist!
      Good luck!!!
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
      Lots of Love
