    Guest Room Curtains

    We made some great progress on our little guest room this weekend. In total we hit 3 stores, Ikea, Home Depot and Target oh I lied 4 stores, I also made a trip to Jo-Ann fabrics.

    At Ikea we bought a Queen size Aspelund Bed and two nightstands at $49.99 each I thought they were a great deal!
    At Home Depot we bought our paint. Martha Stewart's Sharkey Gray!
    At Target we bought some plain white, grommet top curtains $24.99 for both panels.
    and at Jo Ann Fabrics I picked up some red polka dot fabric, about 2 yards.
    Lee painted while I sewed, it was a really nice weekend! Here's the progress we've made on the guest room:

    There is still a TON more to do:
    * Make some art work (DIY something)
    * Sew a banner
    * Paint Closet and install shelves to store craft supplies
    * Change out the light . . . maybe a DIY shade??
    * Spray the bed frame and nightstands maybe yellow?? (did I mention it's going to be BRIGHT)
    * a little word art . . . more details later
    * Some new finials for the curtain rod
    * Sew a bright colorful quilt
    * and I want to add a roller shade to the window to block the light, maybe a little ribbon trim :)

    I was feeling like we were making good progress, I now feel a little overwhelmed at what's left to do, but we've got until December!! (yay for self imposed deadlines)

      So I assume you are painting the room that gray color? Or will that be the closet? I love your ideas. Im especially impressed with anyone that can create DIY art. I have no artistic or crafty ability whatsoever :-)

      So far, so GOOD! Love the way you put the polka dot trim centered on the window where it can be seen in the room.

      I looked at your mood board again and with the colors you're choosing you can do some really cute Christmas decor in that room for your Christmas guests!

      It looks great. Can't wait to see the painted bed and nightstands.

      Question; Did you split the curtain and sew in the polka dot panel, or just add it on top of the curtain fabric?

      Super cute... But next time you are in IKEA check out their curtains. I always kick myself for not buying curtains there... They are so much cheaper, even more perfect if they are going to be added to, like you've done! Like the plain white?! Two Panels for $14.

      Can't wait to see how the room progresses - love the polka dot fabric!!

      Great job on the curtains! The polka dot fabric is adorable, so bright and cheery. Can't wait to see the room come together...when should we plan to arrive?

      Karen,
      The original plan was to split the curtian and legthen it with the red polka dot fabric . . . but it turned out the curtains were the perfect legnth already (thanks to Lee who grabbed the 95" panels instead of the 84" ones) and so I just sewed the polka dots on top of the white panels!! It was super easy, and probably for the best as the polka dot fabric was considerably thinner than the white panel fabric!

      The curtains are so FAB! Love that you added a panel in. I have two sets of curtains and fabric to do something similar, but need to learn how to sew, lol! Why do you have to live so far away? :)
