I've now added a stylish white streak to my hair and have almost finished the Library Bookcase! Lee put the top and trim on, I've been painting away most of the week And by Monday I'll have a Library Bookcase to share!
It's starting to look like a real house not just a construction site.
Here's a sneak peek at our "Customized" billy bookcase!

Its amazing what people have been able to do with Ikea stuff. I really like the direction the book cases are going in.

Oh, wow!!! I can't wait to see how this comes together. I saw some neat looking home/organization books on your shelves. (I am nosy) It looks great already. :)
ReplyDeletePlease give the tutorial! Can't wait to see it all together. Renovating a Craftsman Bungalow and cant wait to put either this idea or your original Manor library in my office. So ready for you to have projects completed so we can get your daily postings back. Happy DIY'ing!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I'd love to see a step by step on these. They look beautiful. I've had my eyes on these for my daughters room - and would love to make them look as sophisticated as yours.
ReplyDeleteAlready a great transformation - can't wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love a big bookshelf full of books. So inspiring ... both for designing and reading :)
ReplyDeleteLookin' good my friend!
ReplyDeleteSo tell me, how do you categorize your books? I'm thinking of cutting back on mine and want to add some decorative touches at the same time but am struggling with how to group them together. What do you think?
Many Blessings,
Melissa

Looks amazing. Can't wait to see the reveal on Monday.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad someone suggested a post on organizing books. That is a tough one for us. They end up getting put back in the wrong place and then we can't find them. Maybe a better system will help. :-)
We have a lot of birch wood in our house and have looked at the birch Billys but they would not be easy to customize like the white Billys, would they?
Lisa
So beautifully organized! We also did the "customized" Billy bookcases. My husband did a great job on them. Your pictures look great above them and I like the color you chose for your wall.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. Love. Love.
ReplyDeleteLove them! You know you have to spill the beans on your new book loves...I have gotten a few you recommended and love them!! LOL
ReplyDeleteDid you have a hard time matching the trim color to the IKEA bookcase color? I am thinking of doing something similar, but with the black billys...
ReplyDeleteWe did have a hard time matching the color! We went to Home Depot and got tons of sample and just matched it up as best we could! Hope that helps you :)
ReplyDeleteLet us know how it turns out!
Hi Ashli. We just got Billy bookcases too that we're planning to put decorative trims on. Do you remember what the name of the white paint is? I don't want to buy any white paint knowing it probably won't be a close match to the white bookcases. Since you already did (and it looks great by the way), I might as well ask you :) Thanks!
