I'm surprised this wasn't my first post. Maillardville Manor is about house and home, but to me there is no home without a furry friend or two. Max is our almost 5lb yorkshire terrier. He's 8 years old but doesn't look a day over 8 weeks.
He came from a local rescue organization. As a result of neglect and abuse before he was rescued he is missing the majority of his teeth. Poor little guy. So if you see his picture and inches of tongue are hanging out of his mouth, it's because he has no teeth to hold it in!
I really would recommend searching for pets from rescue organizations. Even if you are searching for a very specific breed there is probably a rescue group out there with just the doggy you've been looking for. Try Petfinder, it allows you to pick your pets breed, age, gender and then search local organizations for available matches.
We've had Max with us for the last 5 years and can't believe how lucky we were to find him.
As I type this he's asleep on a pillow beside me, keeping me company, waiting for Lee to come home.

What a sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely against pet stores. There are thousands of animals that are not broken, but come from "broken" homes. They deserve our love just the same.
Max is such a stud. :)
Thanks, I couldn't agree more!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is a bit of a stud :) and he knows it!!
What a cutie!!! Poor baby, I hate to think of the abuse some dogs have suffered. We have 3 chihuahuas and they are our fur-babies. Our 3rd dog was a rescue and we got him, he had heartworms. Now he is healthy and such a fun addition!

ReplyDeleteI don't know how someone would have the heart to hurt a little cute doggy like that. I feel so heart broken when I hear stuff like that. That makes me want to hurt the person who did it. I have a little toy shih tzu and I love her with all my heart.
ReplyDeleteMax is adorable!!! I have seen all your posts and of course all the ones he is in. He is very photogenic.
