This is the first installment of Flowers on Friday. I am a very lucky girl with a very sweet husband who brings flowers home on each payday, twice a month. I really don't know how it started, but I'm not going to risk questioning it. It's extra nice, because Lee picks them out for me and try's very hard to get a different bouquet each and every time. I have no idea how I got this lucky but again, I'm not going to risk it by asking too many questions.
When people find out I receive flowers every two weeks their first reaction is shock and awe, and their second reaction is "what a waste of money". What they don't realize is that each bouquet costs under $10, and from each $10 bouquet I make one medium bouquet and at least one little bouquet, sometimes two.
There is a chinese proverb that goes:
"When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one and a lily with the other."
Thankfully we have more then two pennies left in the world but I still love the sentiment.

I love the proverb and the flowers! They are gorgeous! What a great tradition to have with your husband. Rituals are what keep marriages together, and what woman doesn't love flowers?
ReplyDeleteHOW very sweet of your husband! I LOVE that proverb, I haven't heard it before! I love having fresh flowers, I don't get to do it often but I LOVE when I can! Right now, I'm getting FREE bouquets from my hydrangeas! LOVE that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment about houzz. That sweet table area is just perfection! I help some friends occassionally with decor that's why I have it in a couple different idea books if you are wondering (plus my own because I just love it!)
Thanks, truth be told I just can't get enough flowers! I'm sure it is good for our marriage, you can't be mad at someone who brings you flowers!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robyn I've been a fan of yours since I started following blogs last year!! It means alot that you added something I did!!! :)
How sweet of your hubby! That little tradition means so much!
ReplyDeleteAwww, your husband is as sweet as mine. I know the feeling. I love when he brings me flowers. He does it once a month, sometimes twice. I love flowers especially roses and orchids but sometimes I do think it's a bit of a waste of money and when they die I feel horrible. But 1.I don't want to be ungrateful. and 2.Hey!, he spends money in other unnecesary stuff so why not flowers for me? lol
